Section 1-1. Elections. Elective officers of The Town.
- The officers of the Town of Tryon shall be elected by the qualified electors of the Town at an election to be held as provided by the Statutes of the State of Oklahoma. All initiative and referendum questions shall be decided only by elections conducted by the County Election Board to Title 11 of the Oklahoma Statutes.
- In accordance with Title 11, Section 12-101, et seq., the officers of the Town shall be elected as follows:
- The Board of Trustees shall consist of five (5) trustees, said trustees to be elected by the Town at large, said trustees not being required to be a residence of any ward or district of the Town, pursuant to Title 11, Section 8-101 of the Oklahoma Statutes each of said trustees must be a residing registered voter in the Town of Tryon and shall be for not less than six (6) months a resident within the corporate limits of the Town of Tryon, Oklahoma. General elections shall be held on the first Tuesday in April, 2015, and each two (2) years thereafter. All trustees shall be elected for terms of four (4) years.
- Commending on the first Tuesday in April, 2015, and each four (4) years thereafter, one (1) Town Clerk shall be elected. On the first Tuesday in April, 2015, one (I) treasures will be elected.
- The Board of Trustees shall have the authority to appoint a Chief of police.
- The terms of the officials elected under this section shall begin on the second Monday following their election, and they shall serve until their successors are elected and qualified.
