Section 1-2. Time of Regular Meeting of The Board of Trustees.

  1. The Board of Trustees of the Town of Tryon, Oklahoma, shall hold a regular meeting at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month; provided that is such Tuesday falls on a holiday, the regular meeting shall be held on the next day which is not a holiday.
  2. The Tryon Public Utility Authority of the Town of Tryon, Oklahoma, shall hold a regular meeting at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month; provided that is such Tuesday falls on a holiday, the regular meeting shall be held at that time on the next day which is not a holiday. All such meeting shall immediately follow the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Town of Tryon, Oklahoma.

Section 1-3. Place of Meeting of The Board of Trustees.

Every meeting of the Board of Trustees shall be held in a public building unless, in case of an emergency, the Chairman of the Board designates another place in the Town for the holding of a special meeting; provided that any adjourned meeting may be held at any other place with the Town designated by the Board.

Section 1-4. Election of Mayor.

  1. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees shall be elected by the Board from among its members, and shall serve for a term of two (2) years, unless he sooner dies, resigns, or is removed by the Board of Trustees. Said Mayor shall be elected in each odd-numbered year at the 1 Board of Trustees meeting held after trustee terms begin.
  2. When the words “Mayor” or “Chief Executive Officer” are used in this code or in other ordinances of the Town, they shall be deemed to mean the Chairman of the Board of Trustees unless another meaning is clearly indicated by the context.

Section 1-5. Election and Duties of The Mayor, Vice-Mayor.

  1. The Board of Trustees shall elect from among its members a Mayor and a Vice-Mayor. The Mayor and Vice-Mayor shall be elected in each odd-numbered year at the first Board of Trustees meeting held after trustee terms begin, or as soon thereafter as practicable. The Mayor shall serve until his successor has been elected and qualified.
  2. The Mayor shall preside at meetings of the Board and shall certify to the correct enrollment of all ordinances and resolutions passed by it. He shall be recognized as head of the town government for all ceremonial purposes and shall have such other powers, duties, and functions as may be prescribed by law or ordinance. He shall sign all warrants properly and legally drawn upon the town Treasurer. The Mayor shall have all the powers, rights, duties and responsibilities of a trustee, including the right to vote on questions.
  3. During the absence, disability or suspension of the Mayor, the Vice-Mayor shall serve as acting Mayor. When a vacancy occurs in the office of the Mayor, the Board shall elect another Mayor from among its members to serve for the duration of the unexpired term.

Section 1-6. Trustees May Be Designated To Have Supervision of Various Town Personnel and Activities.

The Board of Trustees may designate various ones of its members or a committee of its members to have supervision of various personnel and activities of the Town and may give each such Trustee or committee designated an appropriate title. Each such trustee or committee so designated shall be subordinate to the Board.
