Traffic – Article 07. Reckless Driving: Inattentive Driving: Driving While Intoxicated or Under the Influence of Drugs: Driver’s License

Section 13-41. Reckless Driving.

Any person who drives any vehicle upon highways, turnpikes, and public parking lots throughout the Town of Tryon in a careless or wanton manner without regard for the safety of persons or property is guilty of reckless driving, and upon conviction thereof shall be punished as provided in this Chapter.

Section 13-42. Inattentive driving.

  1. Any person who drives any vehicle or who engages in any activity or does any act while driving that interferes with the safe operation and control of his vehicle, or who continues to operate his vehicle when any other person riding therein or thereon engages in any activity or does any act which interferes with his operation thereof is guilty of inattentive driving.
  2. Any person who drives any vehicle in a manner without due and proper regard for the safety of person or property of others is guilty of inattentive driving under the provisions of this Article.
  3. Any driver of a motor vehicle which collides with another vehicle or with any person or property because of a driving error or inattention is guilty of inattentive driving in violation of this Section.
  4. Any driver of a motor vehicle who attempts to elude a Police Officer or any other lawful official is guilty of inattentive driving under the provisions of this Article.

Section 13-43. Persons under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs.

It is unlawful and punishable as provided in this Chapter for any person who is under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs to drive or be in actual physical control of any vehicle within this Town.

Section 13-44. Driver’s License Required.

  1. No person, except those expressly exempted by Title 47, Section 6-102 of the Oklahoma Statutes, shall drive any motor vehicle upon any street, alley, roadway, or highway within the Town of Tryon, Oklahoma unless such person has a valid color photo Oklahoma license as an operator, commercial chauffeur, or chauffeur under the provisions of the Oklahoma Statutes. Provided further that this section shall be intended to conform and be interpreted consistent with the provisions of Title 47, Section 6-101 of the Oklahoma Statutes. It is also further declared to be the express intention of the Tryon Board of Trustees that this Section be interpreted and defined in compliance with the provisions of Title 47, Section 6-101 through 6-112 of the Oklahoma Statutes as amended 1977.
    1. No person shall operate a motor vehicle as a chauffeur unless he or she holds a valid chauffeur’s license.
    2. No person shall operate a motor vehicle as a common carrier of persons or property unless he holds a valid commercial chauffeur’s license.
  2. It shall be unlawful for any person to display or cause to permit to be displayed or have in his possession any canceled, revoked, suspended, fictitious, photostatic, or fraudulently altered operator’s or chauffeur’s license.
  3. It shall be unlawful for any person to lend his operator’s or chauffeur’s license to any other person or knowingly permit the use thereof by another.
  4. It shall be unlawful for any person to display or represent as one’s own any operator’s or chauffeur’s license not issued to him.
    1. No person shall operate a motor vehicle at a time that his or her valid license has been suspended by the State of Oklahoma.
