Job Title: Utility Operator

Location: Tryon, Oklahoma
Starting Pay: $20.00 per hour

Position Summary:
The Town of Tryon is seeking a reliable and motivated Utility Operator to join our team. The Utility Operator will perform a variety of tasks related to the operation, maintenance, and repair of the water and wastewater systems. This position requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in all weather conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate, monitor, and maintain utility systems and related equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and inspections of facilities, pumps, valves, and meters.
• Assist in repairing leaks, line breaks, and other utility infrastructure issues.
• Read and record meter data accurately.
• Perform general labor duties such as digging, lifting, and equipment operation.
• Maintain accurate records and follow all safety protocols.
• Respond to emergency calls and perform standby/on-call duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical labor.
• Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
• Valid driver’s license required; Class D license preferred.
• Ability to work outdoors and in varied weather conditions.
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
